I am Father Wayne Varga, privileged to be the pastor of two Catholic Churches in the beautiful north-west corner of Sussex County, New Jersey. Along with 400 families of our area, we are Saint Thomas the Apostle Church in Sandyston (established in 1941), and Saint James the Greater Parish in Montague (founded in 1943.)
Elsewhere on this site you will find the schedule of Masses at both our churches, our addresses and a copy of our most recent bulletin.
Our parishes exist so that the Lord may be praised, His Sacraments celebrated, and His command to love be carried out. As you certainly see the evidence each day, our nation and our world are straying further and further from the Lord. His presence is dismissed, or ignored, and His influence in family life and public life is diminished. We are dedicated to reversing these harmful trends in society, by living faithful, service-oriented lives - with His help. Coming together for Mass each Sunday strengthens our bonds and our conviction that the Lord’s way is the best way.
We invite you to join us - for Mass and for fellowship - each week-end. In the meantime, we invite you to take a stroll around our site.
For more information, call our Parish Office at 973-948-2296.
Sincerely,
Father Wayne
We are welcoming parishes where people come together to celebrate the Eucharist, to worship, to learn and to grow in faith. Through our compassionate care and our actions, we demonstrate our beliefs, our fellowship and our commitment to be of service in Christ.
We strive towards a generous tithing of our time, talents and treasure. With open arms we strive to care for one another - and for all.
As a community in Christ, empowered by the sacramental life of the Church, we offer comfort and support to each one in need. We encourage each other to participate in the journey of faith, to live by Christ’s example, and to build up the Kingdom of God.
